Charles "Ted" Theodore McFarlin, Sr.

Charles Theodore "Ted" McFarlin, Sr., age 96, of Hillsboro, IL passed away at 12:22 a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro IL with Rev. Matt Ferguson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, with Military Rites at graveside by V.F.W. Post #1306  and American Legion Post #425.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home.

Mr. McFarlin was born on September 11, 1922 at Culdesac, Idaho to the late Charles O. and Catherine (Dambacher) McFarlin. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and had served with the Navy during WW II.  Ted was retired from farming.  Most of his adult life was spent in the Hillsboro area. He was a member of Irving Masonic Lodge #455, Ansar Shrine, Springfield and First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro.

He was married to Rosemary Lewis in 1947 and she preceded in death.  His marriage to Julia Hodges was on December 18, 1993 and she also preceded.  His marriage to Betty Langston was in April of 2001 and she survives in Hillsboro IL.  Also surviving are step-children, Bill Langston, Coffeen, IL;Gregory Langston, Hillsboro IL; Carol Elsworth, Troy IL; Debbie Montgomery, Hillsboro IL; grandchildren, Charles T. "Beau" McFarlin and Michael McFarlin, both of Glen Carbon IL; also several step-grandchildren and several great step-grandchildren survive. Preceding in death were one son, Charles Theodore McFarlin, Jr., grandchild, David McFarlin, three brothers, Cecil H. McFarlin, Lloyd McFarlin, Leslie McFarlin and one sister, Lola Mae Voils.
