Paul William Houser, Sr.

Paul W. Houser, Sr., 83, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019, at 2:32 a.m. at his son's residence.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will take place in Clear Springs Cemetery, rural Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. Stefan Munker Pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  Military rites will be accorded by VFW Post 1306 and American Legion Post 425.

Mr. Houser was born on November 6, 1935 in Belleville, IL to the late Jesse and Betty (Boulerd) Houser.  He attended Hillsboro area schools, Hillsboro, IL and joined the United States Marine Corps at age 17, where he served in the Korean War.  He married Veronica Sue Ondrey and they later divorced.  He was a member of VFW Post 1306, Hillsboro, IL; a member of National Rifle Association (NRA); loved music; played guitar in El Pres Band for many years; loved guns, hunting, shooting at targets, and woodworking; and loved the outdoors.

Mr. Houser is survived by five children, Paul W. (wife Robin) Houser, Jr. of Hillsboro, IL; Andy (wife Kay) Houser of Eagerville, IL; Julie (husband Leroy) Montgomery of Coffeen, IL; Jody (husband Harry) Jackson of Taylor Springs, IL; and Paulann Egelhoff of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, David (wife Linda) Houser of New Athens, IL.

Mr. Houser was also preceded by a daughter, Mary Ann Houser; one brother, Jesse Houser, and two sisters, Carol and Shirley.
