Thomas "Tom" Michael Mills, 63, of Coffeen, IL, passed away on Monday, July 01, 2019, at 1:50 a.m. at his residence. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, IL. Prayer Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019, at 4:30 p.m., at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL. Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Military Rites will be held at graveside by V.F.W. Post #1306 and American Legion Post #425.
Mr. Mills was born on January 3, 1956, in Litchfield, IL, to Leo and Anna Mae (Huff) Mills. He was a 1974 graduate of Southwestern High School in Piasa, IL. Mr. Mills was an Air Force Veteran of the Red Horse Squadron, stationed at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL and Hurlburt Field in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. He had worked as a mechanic at both Putnam Wright Automotive in Hillsboro, IL, for nineteen years, and recently retired from Roberts Ford Dealership in Alton, IL, after nineteen years. He married Connie Stretch on July 17, 1976 in Hillsboro, IL, she survives in Coffeen, IL. Mr. Mills was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL; Knights of Columbus in Hillsboro, IL; Coffeen Fire Department and Sertoma Club in Hillsboro, IL. He enjoyed car racing, photography, motorcycle riding, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Mills had lived in Jerseyville, IL; Shipman, IL; Alton, IL; Florida; Taylor Springs, IL; Hillsboro, IL and Coffeen, IL throughout his life.
Mr. Mills is survived by his wife, Connie Mills of Coffeen, IL; parents, Leo and Anna Mae (Huff) Mills of Shipman, IL; two daughters, Gina (husband, Chuck) Currie Coffeen, IL and Lindsy (husband, Dave) Vandergriff of Bartonville, IL; four grandchildren, Madison Currie, Kyleigh Currie, Mason Currie, and Phoebe Vandergriff; three sisters, Julie (husband, Lyle) Nilges of St. Louis, MO; Susan (husband, Dennis) Strohbeck of Brighton, IL and Laura Vaughan (significant other Chris) of Alton, IL, and mother-in-law, Janean Stretch, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the Dale Stretch Vocational Education Scholarship.
