Colleen Marie (Collins) Gates

Colleen Marie Gates, 76, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 5:21 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Myron Kirk, Pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore, IL will officiate.  

Ms. Gates was born on April 4, 1945 in Hillsboro, IL to the late Paul and Eileen (Redding) Collins. She attended Hillsboro High School. Ms. Gates married Frederick Gates on September 26, 1970 in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in death on November 4, 2018. Ms. Gates owned and operated Gates Pizza in Hillsboro, IL and had worked at Ryan’s Steakhouse in Springfield, IL. She was a member of the Hillsboro Lions Club; she loved to bowl and was a member of a bowling league; she had a green thumb and loved flowers and gardening; she also loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She had lived in Hillsboro, IL her entire life.

Ms. Gates is survived by her children, Michael Gates of Hillsboro, IL, Jason Gates of Hillsboro, IL, and Debbie (wife Elizabeth) Otter of Hillsboro, IL; eight grandchildren, Jessica Otter (Joe Wittenmyer), Jennifer (husband Josh) Jeffers, Jackie Naugle (Jason Hockett), Ann (husband Zach) Mcintyre, Lacey (husband Tim) Cyprian Lauren Ginger, Isaiah Gates, and Faith Bolyard; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Jean Gurley of Hillsboro, IL and one brother, Larry Collins of Hillsboro, IL. Ms. Gates was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Eileen (Redding) Collins; her husband, Frederick Gates; and her daughter, Cathy Otter.
