Dana Robert Grantham, 87, of Butler, IL passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 5:40 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL. Visitation will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. C.J. Liddell will officiate. Burial will be in Ware’s Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL.
Dana was born July 27, 1936 in East Chicago, IN to Robert Knowlton & Ruth (Hagler) Grantham, both have preceded in death. He was a 1954 graduate of Hillsboro High School and then received his Bachelor’s degree from SIU in Carbondale, IL. He joined the ARMY where he was stationed in Huntsville, Alabama. He married Barbara Ann Gaither on August 10, 1962, in Sanner Chapel in Moweaqua, IL. She Preceded November 23, 2023 He spent his career in the Federal Soil Conservation Service, retiring in 1995. At this time he and Barb moved back to Butler, IL to enjoy life on the farm. He then worked as an independent soil consultant in Montgomery County and surrounding counties till his 80th birthday. He was a member of the Optimist Club in Pinckneyville, IL where he served as treasurer. He was also the Treasurer of Butler Union Church in Butler, IL, and loved to farm and putz around on the farm.
Mr. Grantham is survived by his children, Debra (husband, John) Harriss of Pinckneyville, IL and Kevin (wife, Laurel) Grantham of Crowley, TX; Grandchildren, Callie MacCormack, Carson Grantham, Daniel (Kate Presswood) Harriss, Benjamin (Melissa) Harriss and Rebekah (Matt) Lee; Great Grandchildren, Audrey MacCormack, Cooper Alvis, River Harriss, Gracelyn Harriss, Alaina Harriss & Samuel Harriss.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, beloved grandfather, J. Robert Grantham, and one brother in infancy.
