Delores Ann (Jordan) Hughes

Delores Ann Hughes, 79, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 2:31 a.m., at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL. Father Dan Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in HIllsboro, IL,  will officiate.  Burial will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.

Mrs. Hughes was born on August 7, 1940 in Billings, MT to the late John & Ann (Miller) Jordan. She graduated High School in Mott, ND, and attended Business College in Rapid City, SD. Mrs. Hughes married Stanley L. Hughes in Mott, ND on November 4, 1961.  She worked for Boeing Aircraft Company in Rapid City, SD as a secretary; she worked at Capri IGA in Litchfield, IL for 8 ½ years and then worked for State Farm Insurance Agency in Hillsboro, IL. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL; Council of Catholic Women in Hillsboro, IL; Tri County Water District Board as a secretary for several years; she was a member of the Senior Citizens Club; and past member of the Ladies of the Moose Club. She had lived in Billings, MT; she was raised in Mott, ND; she went to college and worked in Rapid City, SD; and she moved to Hillsboro, IL in 1964. Mrs. Hughes loved her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing any kind of game,bird watching and she loved animals. 

Mrs. Hughes is survived by three daughters, Debra Compton of Pinckneyville, IL; Tammy (husband Jonathan) Bennett of Pingree Grove, IL & Cindy (husband Paul) Boyd of Buda, TX; ten grandchildren, Gabe Compton, Joshua Compton, Jacob Compton, Zachary Bennett, Caleb Bennett, Luke Bennett, Joel Bennett, Ryan Boyd, Brittaney Viebrock, and Alexandra Boyd; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Elaine Mather of Bismark, ND; Ann Marie Bortke of Bismark, ND; Mary Masser of  Mott, ND and Roberta Myhra of Fargo, ND; as well as two brothers, Russell Jordan of Mott, ND and Ernie Jordan of Mott, ND. Along with her parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her son, Sgt. Michael J. Hughes on February 17, 1995; two sisters, Jeanette Strehlow and Carol Voegele and four brothers, Lawrence Jordan, Gary Jordan, Wayne Jordan, and Marvin Jordan.

Memorials may be given to the Donor’s Choice, Catholic Masses or Prairie Heart Institute, located at 619 E. Mason St. Springfield, IL, 62769.
