Valle Michael "Mike" Funk

Valle Michael “Mike” Funk, 70, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 6:50 p.m., at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.

Mr. Funk was born on April 15, 1951, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Valle H. and Mary (Bremer) Funk.  He was a 1969 graduate of Springfield High School, Springfield, IL and worked at CIPS Power Station, Coffeen, IL until he retired.  Mr. Funk lived in Hillsboro, IL, then three years in Springfield, IL, then returning to Hillsboro, IL.  He married Cher Monette and they later divorced.  Mr. Funk was a member of Moose Lodge #1377, Hillsboro, IL;  a member of Amateur HAM Radio Club of Hillsboro, Hillsboro, IL; and he loved the St. Louis Cardinal’s Baseball team and 50’s and 60’s rock and roll.

Mr. Funk is survived by his sons, Shannon Funk of Niantic, IL and Luke (wife Jennifer) Funk of Hillsboro, IL; five grandchildren, Megan Voyles, John Funk, Samantha Funk, Zachary Funk, and Chloe Funk; six great-grandchildren, Atlas Dewitt, Brayden Bro, Kyson Bro, Tucker Greenwood, Koa Kelly, and Breckett Funk; and a brother, Richard Funk of St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Funk was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jane Funk.
